The Pharmaceutical Lab is a Crafting device in Starfield. Crafting is a feature in the game that allows you to create various objects that will help you in battles and in explorations, such as Aid Items, and modifications for Weapons and Armor. The Pharmaceutical Lab focuses on specifically allowing players to create Aid Items that will help them survive during their ventures and explorations. Initially, Aid Items that can be created are limited and might be relatively weak, but more Aid Items can become craftable as players progress in the game. Notably, many Aid Items, including stronger versions of them, become unlocked as craftable items through the Research Laboratory.
What is the Pharmaceutical Lab in Starfield?
The Pharmaceutical Lab allows players to create their own stock of medicinal Aid Items any time they have access to it, as long as they have the right materials to do so. There are two types of Aid Items that can be created through the Pharmaceutical Lab - Medical Treatments and Performance Enhancers. Medical Treatments are consumed to heal health points and cure ailments that the character might be suffering from, from hazardous sources. Performance Enhancers provide temporary stat increases that help the character navigate, explore, and survive the dangerous worlds around them.
Starfield Where to find a Pharmaceutical Lab?
Players will actually have access to the Pharmaceutical Lab the earliest that they step foot in the Frontier, the default ship in the game. However, they will unlikely have any materials to craft anything yet. Nevertheless, the Pharmaceutical Lab in the ship will be there to stay, so players will be able to visit it anytime and create Aid Items accordingly as they gather the materials for them. Additionally, The Lodge will also have a Pharmaceutical Lab ready for use at any time as well. Players will also be able to find Pharmaceutical Labs in some medical facilities throughout the universe, such as in Reliant Medical and the Medbay in New Atlantis. Players will have an initial batch of Aid Items they can craft. They can then unlock stronger ones through completing Pharmacology Research Projects at a Research Laboratory. Finally, players will also be able to build a Pharmaceutical Lab on their Outposts so they can craft Aid Items whenever they visit their developing areas.
Starfield How to Use the Pharmaceutical Lab?
After interacting with a Pharmaceutical Lab, players will be presented with a list of Aid Items that they are able to craft, based on their current knowledge. As players scroll down and view the different items, they will be able to see the name of the Aid Item, and its effects on the left side of the screen.
Players will also be able to see the materials needed to craft the food or drink Aid Item on the right side of the screen. Below that will be the Food & Drink Research Project that would've been required to unlock the Aid Item as a craftable item on the Pharmaceutical Lab, as well as the button to actually begin the process of crafting the item. Simply press the button to craft the chosen Aid Item.
What is a Research Laboratory in Starfield?
The Research Laboratory expands the main character's Crafting capabilities, which in turn expands the player's capabilities, in terms of healing, Equipment, and managing their Outposts. Completing Research Projects will allow the player to unlock new creations to craft using various different crafting devices. Afterward, players will be able to attach these new creations to their Equipment, or use/consume them at will in the case of Aid Items and Food. Research Projects are divided into the following categories:
- Pharmacology
- Food & Drink
- Outpost Development
- Equipment
- Weaponry
Pharmacology research will result in being able to craft new Aid Items, as well as improve on them to craft stronger Aid Items with more healing capabilities, by using the Pharmaceutical Laboratory.
