Spacesuits in Starfield are Armor Equipment that protect the Main Character controlled by players in the game. Equipment is the term for items in the game that players can have equipped on themselves, on their heads and bodies, or wield with their hands. Spacesuits have their own stats that determine how much protection they give the Main Character. Spacesuits are also essential for traveling and exploring Locations that would otherwise be harmful to the Main Character in terms of having Oxygen and hazardous energies in the environment, like extreme thermal energy or radiation.
What are Spacesuits in Starfield?
Spacesuits in Starfield are the basic Equipment used by humans to traverse space, in the setting they work as an Armor would providing the main form of damage resistance to the Player Character in the game.
Spacesuits will add to the overall weight of the player, but they are not necessary to equip for Locations and areas where Oxygen is not scarce and players will not need protection from the natural gases in the air. Conversely, players will not be able to explore hazardous Locations, and those wanting for breathable air, without using a Spacesuit and a Helmet.
How to Acquire & Equip Spacesuits in Starfield?
Spacesuits in Starfield can be acquired throughout the universe from different Locations, and also sold by Merchants. Some Spacesuits may be acquired as gifts or rewards from different NPCs after clearing different tasks, Activities, and Missions, or looted from Enemies who were wearing Spacesuits before you dispatched them. Some Spacesuits, along with other gear or Equipment, may be crafted with the right materials. For a list of Spacesuits that you have obtained, players just have to pull up the menu and then navigate to the Inventory section to find a list of all the Equipment that they have currently equipped to their character. Next. simply head down to the Spacesuits tab and pick and choose a Spacesuit to inspect and then equip. Players acquire their first default Spacesuit during the first Mission One Small Step, called the Deep Mining Spacesuit.
Starfield Armor Stats
Armor is the main Equipment in the game that serves to mitigate damage and generally increase the player's resistance to hazardous and damaging effects. As mentioned previously, Spacesuits share in this function, and so offer the same defensive stats. Defensive Stats are generally divided into two categories, general Damage Resistance, and Environmental Resistance. Damage Resistance stats mitigate damage from the three main types of damage that can befall the player. Environmental Resistance stats mitigate damage from hazardous sources in more dangerous Locations.

Really wish there was light armor. Formfitting vacsuits would have been great. Also would be good for women who don't want to wear a giant bulky man-suits. Yuck.
