Ships are a key mode of transportation in Starfield, allowing players to travel between Planets and Star Systems. Players will also be able to engage in Combat with enemy Ships and even dock and board onto other ships/structures in outer space. To travel, ships use Helium-3, depending on the amount that your ship carries in its Fuel Tanks the journey you can make can be longer or shorter.
Where can i find ships in Starfield?
There are many ways to acquire spacecrafts in Starfield. Spaceports at inhabited Planets will always have a Ship Technician where you can buy and sell Modules for your Ship. Unlike other Equipment in the game most Ship Modules are unlocked at the beginning of the game, the main impediment to buying them being your Starship Design level and how rich you are. The other way of acquiring ships is by stealing them from other NPCs and Factions, on land there sometimes will be mercenary ships that can be taken after eliminating their crew. On Space if you are willing to risk it, boarding other vessels is a lucrative way of acquiring ships or making credits by selling them.
Customizing Ship Modules in Starfield
There are two ways to modify your ship in the customization menu:
Modify Modules Individually
Alter or enhance individual Ship Modules without affecting their placement. This mode works well with players who want to upgrade existing ship designs without worrying about dabbling in shipbuilding manually. If all you want is to upgrade the Firepower of your ship this might be the easier way.
Ship Builder Mode
In this mode, players can explore an unrestricted creative space where they can edit, add, and build their own Ships by playing with different Ship Modules. While upgrading each part is also possible in this mode, players with a high level in Starship Design have the freedom to customize their ships and make them truly their own. Warning messages will appear if any part is installed in a wrong way.
Ship Stats in Starfield
The health of your ship is represented by the Hull and Shield attributes, which act as visual indicators akin to health bars.Mobility and Top Speed determine how agile and swift your ship can navigate.
The Cargo of your vessel determines the amount of goods like Weapons and Items you can effectively store onboard.
Jump Range determines the maximum distance your ship can travel between different Star Systems. It is crucial to note that the weight of your cargo can impact the consumption of jump fuel, necessitating careful consideration of the cargo's weight and its effect on your ship's travel capabilities.
LAS denotes Laser weaponry, BAL represents Ballistic weapons, and MSL signifies Missiles. Each of these Weapon types offers distinct approaches to Combat and varying degrees of damage output.
Certain modules available in Starfield, such as Cockpits and HABs, are equipped with Crew stats, indicating the maximum number of crew members they can accommodate.
Adding new components to your ship increases its overall Mass, which in turn affects both the Jump Range and Mobility attributes. As your ship's weight increases, it becomes more challenging to maneuver and fly efficiently.
Power Allocation in Starfield Ships
During combat, you will be able to manually divert power from the total bar provided by your Reactors of choice, making it so that your ship capabilities shift according to your needs. More power to the Engines will result in more speed, Energy Shield capabilities can be augmented with this energy and your Grav Drive can initiate its jump faster depending on how much you empower it. Weapons are pretty straightforward, more energy meaning more damage.

Ship Manufacturers
What are Ship Manufacturers in Starfield
Starfield ship manufacturers are diverse companies that offer distinct designs for various spaceship components. In the Starfield gameplay trailer, we got a glimpse of several of these manufacturers, and the final game is expected to feature a wide array of options to choose from. Each manufacturer comes with its own unique design philosophy and aesthetic.
Major Ship Manufacturers
Not all Ship Manufacturers are made equal. Some are more significant than others. This shows up in Starfield in the form how both in the story and the world around how some of the bigger more richer Manufacturers are have massive Staryards and Specialised Showrooms that is dedicated to that particular Company. These Major Manufacturers have specialised vendors that have exclusive rights in selling some hard to come by Ship Parts. The Listed below are the Major Manufacturers of Pre-made ships and Ship Parts.
Deimos
Deimos prides itself as the United Colonies main military ship contractor. Its deep connections to the UC Navy is very much felt. From its Military centric design philosophy, its heavily armed pre-built ships or the large number of former UC Navy veterans in its employee roster. Deimos wears its affiliation with the UC military with Pride
Staryard Location: Nikau Henderson, Deimos Staryard, Deimos (Moon of Mars), Sol System, United Colonies Space
Ships: Aegis, Longsword, Gladius II, Phalanx, Bireme, Hoplite
HopeTech
"TRUUUCKS IN SPACE" - Company Motto
Hopetech is a ship manufacturer that specialize in Space Freighters. Retaining that Frontier Culture of the Freestar Collective, they mostly trade in extremely rugged, large Ships equipped to transport large amount of goods and fuel with defense capabilities to survive wild space. They have a small selection of scout ships which is also their most combat capable products (also coincidentally fitted for smuggling capabilities)
Showroon Location: Hopetown, Polvo, Valo System
Ships: Pik Up, Big Rig, Spacetruk, Lil Muv, Silent Runner
Stroud-Eklund
Formerly a minor ship part manufacturer, thanks to the genius of Constellation's own Walter Stroud. He turned this minor ship building player into the new rising star of space ship manufacturing. Compared to the other manufacturers, Stroud-Eklund is extremely young and new in having their own staryard. Considered the all rounder of Ship builders, Stroud-Ekland ships has an Oval like design to its ship aesthetics.
Showroom Location: Stroud-Eklund Showroom, Neon Core, Neon City, Volii Alpha , Volii System, Freestar Collective Space
Staryard Location: Havershaw, Stroud-Eklound Staryard, Orbiting Dalvik (Moon of Deepala), Narion System, Freestar Collective Space
Ships: Privateer II, Conquerer II, Narcissus II, RoanokeII
Taiyo Astroneering
A product of Neon's corporate culture. Taiyo is pure style over substance. With its main focus being the Avant-Garde approach in Ship design. Aesthetics, luxury and sleek futuristic look is the priority with Taiyo Ships but do not let that pretty face fool you. They are fully space capable ships that can hold their own in the wild space of the Settled systems. Taiyo ships are so capable that they have become a mainstay in the Crimson Fleet. Particularly their Wraith, Haunt and Reaper series are modified Taiyo Ships.
Showroom Location: Taiyo Astroneering Showroom, Ryujin Tower, Neon Core, Neon City, Volii Alpha , Volii System, Freestar Collective Space
Ships: Hammerhead, Falcon II, Sparrow II, Narwhal
Nova Galactic
Another One of the UC aligned Ship Manufacturer, though one of the older companies. It however does not have that deep connection with the UC military that Deimos have. Nova Galactic has a much more unique approach in interior design with how their habs are compared to their other ship building peers but still a major player in ship building in the Settled Systems. Because their Staryard was recently attacked and looted by Spacers, their exclusive parts are sold in the New Homestead Spaceport instead.
Staryard Location: New Homestead, Titan (Moon of Saturn), Sol System, United Colonies Space
Crimson Fleet
The Crimson Fleet is unique because they do not produce ship parts themselves. They however is the most significant pirate fleet in the Settled Systems and this gives them a tremendous economic footprint that allows them outfit their own ships. Their design is what you would expect from a pirate fleet. Red, built for battle and all undocumented. The vast majority of their ships are mostly made up of modified Deimos and Taiyo Ships.
Staryard Location: The Key, Orbiting Suvorov, Kryx Star System (Requires the Crimson Fleet Quest to access)
Ships: Crimson Flt Phantom II, Crimson Fleet Reaper, Crimson Fleet Ghost II, Crimson Fleet Wraith, Crimson Fleet Haunt, Crimson Fleet Specter
