Surveying Ranks Progression in Starfield
Surveying has 4 Ranks that players can unlock. Each Rank introduces a unique effect, offering a diverse range of benefits. To progress to the next Rank, players must complete a challenge specific to that Rank. Only after completing the challenge can you invest another point in the Skill

Adds another level of zoom to the hand scanner, and scan distance is increased to 50 meters. | Complete the previous rank challenge to unlock this rank. |

I confirm it also increase the range at which things highlight by a lot. Very useful, for exemple, if you are hunting for Chumbass under Neon, as it allows you to spot them from very far !
