(Optional) Show Hurst's Note to CDR Woodard is an optional activity obtained after picking up a Message from Hurst from a Pirate Leader on Governor Hurst's Ship. Activities are additional tasks and interactions players can choose to participate in to learn about the characters and locations in Starfield. These are straightforward objectives that are shorter than the Main Missions you do to progress the main story. Completing Activities can lead to new activities or earn you rewards. These Side Missions enrich the lore of the game while presenting optional NPCs, Enemies, or Bosses that are not directly tied to the main storyline. Completing Missions earns players experience, Weapons, Armor, and other types of loot.

  

How to unlock (Optional) Show Hurst's Note to CDR Woodard in Starfield

(Optional) Show Hurst's Note to CDR Woodard can be unlocked by the following NPC or the following actions:

  • (Optional) Show Hurst's Note to CDR Woodard is located on Umbriel within the Sol System. 
  • Progress through Red Tape Runaround until Governor Hurst tasks you to deal with his stolen ship. Then loot the Message from Hurst from the Pirate Leader's Body on Governor Hurst's Ship.

If you speak to Governor Hurst during the Red Tape Runaround, you will be able to progress on your mission which will task you to deal with his stolen ship.

If you successfully locate and board the ship, you will be able to deal with the Pirates however you see fit. If you manage to loot the Pirate leader, you will find a Message from Hurst. This will give you the optional objective of showing the note to CDR Woodard.m. the Chief of Planetary Security.

The Note will read: 

"I'm asking that you take care of the ship and anyone on board. I don't care how you do it, I just want to be rid of this problem before someone catches on. If someone finds out that. I'm having an affair, and that the woman involved ran off with my government-issued ship, I'm sure you'd understand that ti would be very bad for me. I'd like to get ahead of that and just chalk it up to a simple theft and destruction. I repeat, the ship MUST be destroyed, or we shall consider the terms of your payment null and void. "

If you decide to go through with this optional objective, CDR Vincent Woodard will be back at the Mining colony of Cydonia on Mars. Track the activity to mark his location and follow it to his office. You can tell him that the Governor has been involved in criminal activities, you can then provide the note as proof. 

This will affect the fate of the governor and will update the mission: Red Tape Runaround. If you choose to do this, Woodard will still allow you to complete the deal involving the package for Peter Brennan.
