Starfield A Break at Dawn Walkthrough

You can start A Break at Dawn by entering the UC Security Office at the New Atlantis Spaceport and speaking to Sergeant Yumi behind the first desk. Ask him if he has any jobs for you and he'll give you a case on a stolen wedding ring. Your next course of action is to head the Dawn's Roost. It can be found in the Pioneer Tower at the New Atlantis Commercial District.

Approach the bartender, Royce Elgin, and ask him about the fight at the restaurant. He'll explain that the two gentlemen involved were frequently seen dining together, so it came as a surprise when the fight broke out. You'll be pointed towards Hugo Fournier at the Athena Tower. The tower can be found close by, also in the Commercial District.

Follow the mission marker there and you'll find Hugo by the elevator. When you speak to him, he'll explain that his ex-fiancé cheated on him with a Dawn's Roost waiter. Accuse him of thievery and he'll claim that the engagement ring was a gift. You can agree with him and let the case go, or Persuade him to give up the ring. If you try to persuade him, you'll have three turns to get 4 Persuasion 'points'. Below are some examples of Persuasion options:

  • Stop being stubborn and just give me the ring. (+1)
  • It's evidence in a crime, and I need to confiscate it. (+2)
  • Let UC Security take the ring for now. You can get it back later once the lawyers sort it out. (+3)
  • Your gift is conditional. It's only yours if you actually got married. (+3)

Succeed and he'll give you the ring. You can then return to Sergeant Yumi at the UC Security Office. When you speak to him, you'll have the option of giving the ring away or keeping it. Doing either will net you the same mission rewards.

Some years ago me and my ex-girlfriend broke up (mutually agreed) and some time later she asked me to give her back a pretty cool Tolkien's Silmarillion handmade map she had given to me some months before, which I was (am) very fond of... I was outraged. Imagine being cheated on by your fiancé and the ******* accuse you of stealing your own freaking engagement ring!
