Groundpounder is a Miscellaneous Mission in Starfield. Completing Missions allows players to learn more about the world and characters in Starfield. Players can take on Main Missions which progress the main story forward, and other types of optional secondary missions that do not. Miscellaneous Missions are side quests that do not affect your relationship with any Faction or progress the main story. Completing Missions earns players experience, Weapons, Armor, and other types of loot.
A merchant told me there is a lot of Spacer activity in the Altair system. He also heard an urgent distress call. I'll have to go to Altair to learn more.
How to unlock Groundpounder in Starfield
Groundpounder can be unlocked by the following NPC or the following actions:

Starfield Groundpounder Rewards
Together the UC Marines and Freestar Militia managed to make the Altair system safe again, with help from me. Torres and Myeong parted as unlikely friends, hoping they never have to face each other on opposite sides of a battle one day.
Groundpounder gives the following rewards once completed:
- 300 XP
- 5000 Credits
Starfield Groundpounder Objectives
- Land at Research Outpost U3-09 on Altair II
- Find Private Mahoney
- Secure the Spacers Outside the Infirmary and Talk to Lezama
- Rescue the Freestar Militia's commander: Lieutenant Torres. He's on the third floor in Doctor Moussa's office.
- Lieutenant Torres wants my help to rescue a United Colonies marine named Captain Myeong. These unlikely allies have been fighting the Spacers together. She's on the second floor guarding the other entrance to the outpost.
- Head to the Research Camp on Altair II
- Clear the enemies at Research Camp, and report back to Lieutenant Torres.
- Take out Spacer attack groups in orbit of Altair I and V.
- Defeat the final Spacer assault.
